PREGNANCY AND NEW MUMS
The creation of new life is miraculous! At the same time a woman’s body undergoes an amazing transformation to accommodate the growing baby. Pregnancy is an exciting, joyful time and yet can sometimes feel overwhelming for the new mum-to-be. She and her partner can be inundated with advice in how to be with their baby. Her changing body produces weight gain as well as other hormonal changes which can cause nausea and headaches, and as the pregnancy progresses she can often experience low back pain due to postural changes, fluid retention, heartburn, breathlessness, high blood pressure and possible pubic symphysis disorder. Understandably she often feels exhausted and if fearful about the birth itself, this can be a quite a scary time.
Craniosacral Biodynamics can be of great benefit for a new mum-to-be since it can help boost her constitutional strength, also allowing her special needs to be met which help minimise symptoms and overall stress. Most importantly the treatment can help relax her pelvis, greatly easing the birth process.
If having read the above you think: “well, none of that applies to me - a few symptoms maybe but generally feeling ok - but I just want to take care of myself and be held and celebrate this special time in my life!” – I am also here for you. Whatever your situation, feel free to contact me.
Last but certainly not least, Craniosacral Biodynamics has been found to be extremely beneficial to support a post-natal mother. Deliveries today are conducted with the utmost care and sensitivity to provide a safe and welcome entry into the world for the new-born and naturally most attention is focussed on the wellbeing of the baby. New mums also deserve some special attention whose pelvis and perineum have undergone an amazing transformation to enable the baby to exit the birth canal! Craniosacral treatments can help with strains in the sacrum and pelvis and help them to return to a normal position, easing any residual low-back pain. Working to normalise strains in the pelvis which have naturally been taxing the mother’s nervous system can therefore help with tiredness and any symptoms of post-natal depression. As suggested above for pregnancy, Craniosacral Biodynamics can provide a loving, soothing and healing sanctuary for the new mum. If you have any questions, please contact me.
